The Shooting Brake Wiki
A shooting brake is two doors and a hatch — the roofline carried back over a real cargo area, on a two-door car. The BMW Z3 M Coupe is the archetype. Four-door cars marketed as “shooting brakes” (Mercedes CLA/CLS, Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo) are wagons by this standard, and live in the Wagon Wiki instead. The rule cuts both ways: it also makes the Ford Pinto Wagon — two doors, one tailgate — the humblest shooting brake ever built. We apply the rule without favour. Here is why that matters.
Reading the table: Specs are for the representative volume trim of each generation unless noted. HP/Ton is computed (hp ÷ curb weight in US tons). Values marked ~ are approximate and pending verification against primary sources. Imports (never sold new in the US) are badged.
